do’yo transitioning between seasons

you hold within you all of the macrocosmic orbits in our galaxy combined

a balance of Earth, sky and element perfectly entwined

For the last 18 days before the season moves into the next, we are held within the centre point of the Earth elements grounding axis.

Do’Yo is a time of subtle pause as we reflect on the past three months and how it has changed us. All of the challenges faced, lessons learnt, and the gifts hidden within them all that we are now hopefully unravelling.

During Do’Yo it is recommended to observe the characteristics of the Earth element and to do a short 3 day fast to help your body transition into the next season with ease.

The Earth element holds us in a state of balance. Creating a stable sense of self and knowing of what it is we need moment, to moment. Funninly enough, it can be the easiest element ot go out of balance within the body through improper diet and eating times.

If you are feeling foggy, lethargic, sluggish, have poor digestion, irregular eating habits, eat a lot of sugar (including fruit), cold foods (salads) and processed foods – it is very likely that your Earth element needs to be re-balanced.

HOW TO FAST

Prepare the rice:

Bring to the boil 2 cups of Biodynamic Brown Rice with ¼ of Salt and 2-3 sticks of Wakame and then simmer with the lid closed for 40 mins until tender.

Let rest for 5 minutes to allow the elements to balance out before eating.

Simple Miso Broth base:

Saute one onion cut into half moon shapes in a little sesame oil and 1/3 of Salt.

Add in one chopped carrot until tender.

Soak 3-4 Shitake mushrooms in boiling water for 10 mins.

Add water into pot for desired broth amount.

Bring to the boil with 2-3 sticks of Wakame and bring to the boil and simmer for 20 mins.

Drain and discard vegetable matter so you are left with a clear broth. Return to the pot.

Add in ¼ chopped cabbage and ½ head of Brocolli to serve with 1 tsp of miso per bowl.

Add in a dash of Ume boshi vinegar and voila!

Consume a cup of miso and bowl of rice for each meal as desired. Your body will tell you how much you need to eat but make sure to stick to a regular eating schedule.
